Here's the process for how I created a sci-fi brute type soldier.
Below you will find various images showing different stages of the creation of this character with some context for decisions I made during each step.
Started off by creating a number of headshot designs  using ink straight off the bat to force myself to worry less about perfection and more about creating different and unique shapes.
I numbered each one so I can easily make note of which helmet design I like best and can then decide to mix and match different designs.
These sketches were created with the same technique in mind that I used for the headshots, straight to ink, no over the top refining that slows down the whole creative process, just shapes and silhouettes.
I wanted to try block out basic shapes and forms to give myself some ideas for how to capture this characters personality and size for me to then finalize in a final illustration or painting.

This was the final look I wanted to go for with the character before creating a digital render
